The medieval palace now opens its doors for visitors to discover the palace and gardens complete with the Well pools that give the city its name! Be sure to stop for a picnic in the Arboretum - it's the perfect way to while away the hours.
East Somerset Railway
Looking to see Somerset in style? Enjoy a relaxed, unhurried and civilised journey on East Somerset Railway's 200 year old steam train! Your journey starts at Cranmore station and makes its way through the Mendip hills to the final stop at Mendip Vale Station. Trains operate throughout the year, with the option to enjoy a Sunday Roast or Afternoon Tea. For younger passengers regular visits from Peppa Pig, as well as the Christmas Santa Trains all make for a memorable experience!
Forde Abbey House and Gardens
Still a family home and fully working country estate, Forde Abbey offers visitors the chance to explore the house and learn about its rich history from its monastic beginnings in 1136 right up to the present day. The changes in time can been seen by visiting the monastic rooms such as the Monk's Dormitory and Great Hall right through to the private living quarters of the Prideaux Family. The gardens are also well worth visiting and summer visitors are invited to pick their own fresh fruits.
Hauser & Wirth
Zurich, London, New York and now: Bruton. Hauser & Wirth opened its doors in the summer of 2014, inviting the public to immerse themselves in a pioneering, world-class gallery. Centred on a core belief in conservation, education and sustainability, experience innovative exhibitions, contemporary art and a variety of special events including talks, seminars and screenings. Behind the gallery buildings sits a beautifully landscaped 1.5 acre perennial meadow, created by renowned landscape architect Piet Oudolf.
